Background

Originally released in the arcades, it was later ported to the SNES for all to enjoy in their homes. Rareware used their scanning of 3D models technology to achieve some beautiful visuals. The use of the black cartridge gave Killer Instinct a very distinctive look compared to the usual grey carts.

Comments

To differentiate from the pack of fighters available at the time, Rareware focused the game on combo hits, where the player would string together several hits to gain combo points and punish the challenger. A valiant attempt at making a fighting game, I enjoyed it for the most part but perhaps didn't have the lasting appeal to keep me playing for long.

ps: I wish I had it for Xbox, by the way rock on.
